It's just another homepage.  There's some good stuff here.  But look at what is not here:

Things that blink.  Things that move around.  Things that pop up.  Things that make noise.  Ads full of capitalized text and exclamation marks.   Interruptions.   Distractions.

I'm not talking about minor irritations.  I have a severe attention-deficit problem and medicine only helps so much.  The stimulation of the web is helpful, but for me, distractions and thought processes cannot co-exist.  There are times when I love to go to exciting web pages for fun, but this page is mostly for times when a little thinking needs to commence.  There are offshoots on my site for certain music, fresh downloads for The Sims (in the works) and a little handy miscellany, but they'll have their own pages.

First thing in the morning, all I want is peace is quiet and a good cup of java.  I want to surf to places that inspire me, and I want quick links to webmaster sites that won't waste my time.  At this time of the day I avoid sites that are full of animations and other distractions, though there are a few of these sites that I go to anyway because they have that much value.  (I might not stay as long...)  A little fun and odd bits of information can be nice for those pauses while heavy pages load, but I want to start clean with a mostly utilitarian, constantly updated site with just enough weirdness to keep it from getting too boring. 

I'm guessing if it appeals to me it probably appeals to other busy people too, so I'm happy to share it.  And delighted at the warm feedback!  Every award, every dot on the guest map, every individual friend I've met here is a joy beyond words.  I love visiting personal web pages too, so please feel free to send me your own links.  Even if has animation and sound - there are a lot of sites that I love dearly with all those things above, long load times, even pop-ups sometimes.
